How to Test Your Keyboard Online
This keyboard tester gives you visual feedback for physical key presses. You do not need to type a sentence or install an app. Use the virtual keyboard above as a map of your real keyboard.
- Choose a layout. Use Full for a standard keyboard with numpad, TKL for a tenkeyless keyboard, or 75% for a compact layout.

What Can This Keyboard Tester Check?
Dead or Unresponsive Keys
Press every letter, number and control key. If a key never highlights while other keys work normally, it may need further troubleshooting.
Function Keys F1–F12
Use the function row to run an online function key test. Some browsers may intercept F1 or other shortcuts, so behavior can vary.
Numpad Keys
Choose the Full layout and check Num Lock, digits, arithmetic keys and numpad Enter. Num Lock state can affect the event reported by your system.
Arrow & Navigation Keys
Test Insert, Delete, Home, End, Page Up, Page Down and the four arrow keys without entering text into a form.
Keyboard Ghosting and Multi-Key Rollover Test
For a quick keyboard ghosting test, hold several keys at the same time. The Held Now counter shows how many presses the browser currently sees, while Max Simultaneous records the largest combination detected during your session.
If you physically hold three or four keys but one of them does not register, the limitation may come from the keyboard matrix, its rollover design, the connection, or the browser/operating system. Gaming keyboards commonly advertise anti-ghosting or N-key rollover, but support can differ by key combination.
How to Check for a Stuck Key or Double Typing

A key that remains logically pressed can cause repeated characters or unwanted shortcuts. Watch Keys held now: after you physically release a key, it should disappear from that list. If the problem only happens outside this page, compare behavior in another browser or application before assuming the keyboard is damaged.
Keyboard typing twice
If one physical press produces two characters in normal typing, the cause can be switch chatter, debris, an operating-system repeat setting, wireless interference, or software. The recent event list can help you see whether unusually rapid repeated keydown events are being reported while you test.
Laptop, Gaming and Wireless Keyboard Testing
This page can be used as a laptop keyboard tester, a basic gaming keyboard test, or a check for USB and wireless keyboards. Compact laptop keyboards may combine Home, End, media controls, brightness controls and F-keys through an Fn layer. Because Fn is often handled inside the keyboard firmware, browsers usually cannot detect it directly.
For a wireless keyboard, first check the battery or charge level and reconnect the USB receiver or Bluetooth connection. For a gaming keyboard, test common combinations such as W + A + Shift + Space and compare the Held Now count with the keys you are physically pressing.
If a Keyboard Key Is Not Working
An online keyboard test can show whether the browser receives a key event, but it cannot identify every hardware or software fault by itself. Try these checks before replacing the keyboard:
- Reconnect the keyboard or try another USB port.
- Restart the computer and test again.
- For wireless models, recharge or replace batteries and reconnect the receiver/Bluetooth device.
- Check for debris around the affected key and clean according to the keyboard manufacturer's instructions.
- Test the keyboard in another application, browser, or computer to isolate the problem.
- On Windows, review the keyboard device in Device Manager if the problem appears software-related.
